Now copy the jvm.dll file from the Program Files\Java folder to the Program Files\Oracle\jinitiator hotspot folders (rename the jvm.dll currently in the folder to ) This seemed to work.

This can be achieved by using an ION Custom file, this is used to swap the Java dlls to expose the Jinitiator 1.3.1.22 dlls to the application, instead of the highest installed version of Java. Just check the Java archive at Oracle for other Java RE versions. If it's still not working, try another jvm.dll version. When you try to load a java application which depends on Jinitiator, Internet Explorer 8 will crash with the message: “Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from jvm.dll>”. Open path "C:\Program Files\Oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.22\bin\hotspot".

You will then need to copy the jvm.dll from this install replacing the file in the JInitiator folder. Solution: Download and install the latest version of java from. Your (directory) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\client (jre1.4.2 does work as well.) to (directory) C:\Program Files\Oracle\JInitiator 1.3.1.22\bin\hotspot.
